Very sad Peace Lily

Hello!

I bought a peace lily on sale from my work as I found it had fallen over in the soil. I thought with a repot and some TLC she'd be fine, but I was WRONG.

It turned out she was very rootbound, so I repotted her and put her in more aerated soil (I put some perlite in the soil mixture). She's green but has been wilted for WEEKS. She also keeps falling over no matter the soil I put on top or the stake I attach her to. I'm not sure her problem! It's winter and my place doesn't get much sun. I've since given the plant to my step mum who has better sun and warmth in her home. But idk if it'll help. If anyone has some tips as to what could help or what might be wrong, I'd appreciate it!

When I repotted the plant, I loosened the roots as gentley as I could and I sized up the pot by about an inch. I didn't trim the roots even though they were a bit long as I didn't want to add more trauma to the plant. I've also tried to hold back on watering too much as I said, it's winter.

Rent reduction percentage

Hello! My roommates and I are trying to figure out what we should ask for a rent reduction.

The problem:

The roof has been leaking whenever it rains since May of 2025. The initial leak pooled water on our modem and made us lose internet for a week. We've also had it fill a bucket or two if it rains for more than a week.

They haven't made any moves to fix it besides a tradie coming around and telling us the roof needs replacing as it's all rusted around the skylight among a copious amount of other wear and tear in the ceiling.

It's darkening around the edges, making us suspicious of mould as well as my roommates and I getting continuously sick. The ceiling also looks as though it is starting to sag!

We've reported several times and have decided to send an email asking for a rent reduction until it is fixed.

I've suggested that we ask for 25% off due to the fact it's caused damage to our property within the building, impacted my roommate working from home (because of the no internet), we constantly have to rearrange the loungeroom when it rains, and the possible health concerns. My roommates are worried it's too steep and are concerned with repercussions of asking for so much off but in my opinion, the landlord is supposed to provide the service of a functional, livable home and has failed to do so. It being steep means they will have more motivation to fix the problem quicker! Also, if they absolutely refuse, we can a) go to tribunal or b) negotiate.

But I thought I'd come to reddit to ask the People™️ their thoughts and opinions. Maybe even some advice as I'm not entirely up to code with the laws and tenant rights! Thank you in advance 💃
