Green elephant calf (зелёный слоник) is a Russian experimental horror directed by Svetlana Baskova. The plot follows two soldiers who are imprisoned in a military detention cell, the walls of which are painted in a green color.

This is a really disturbing movie, I find the first half particularly uncomfortable to watch although it contains no graphic violence compared to the second half. The dialogue is preposterous yet somewhat interesting, and gory scenes are also unconventional.

The movie is directed by Eva Ionesco based on her own childhood experiences. Eva's mother Irina was a photographer who began photographing Eva when she was a kid. Many of these pictures were controversial because they portrayed Eva in a sexualized way.

In 2011, the same year My Little Princess was released, Eva filed a lawsuit against her mother over the publication and sale of some of those pictures.

This is a documentary about the Norwegian black metal scene in the early 1990s. It focuses on some key figures and presents their perspectives through interviews and archival footage.

The participants include Varg Vikernes, Bård Eithun, Gylve Nagell, Jan Axel Blomberg etc. Most of them were musicians, a few committed serious crimes. For example, Varg murdered Euronymous in 1994 and set fire to several historic churches.

Christiane F. is directed by Uli Edel, based on the true story of Christiane Felscherinow. The story is about a 13 year old girl in 1970s west Berlin who becomes a drug addict after entering the city's nightclub scene. The movie shows the impact of addiction, prostitution, and the failures of families, schools and society in protecting young people.

It is very realistic, the detox scene is intense. I watched it when I was a teenager and it really shook me.

Ichi the killer is directed by Takashi Miike, based on the manga by Hideo Yamamoto. The story is about a sadistic Yakuza enforcer Kakihara as he searches for his missing boss. His search leads him to Ichi, a deeply traumatized person who appears timid but becomes a violent killer when triggered.

This is one of the movies that genuinely makes me feel sick. It's filled with gratuitous scenes of murder and torture, along with a bunch of twisted characters. Kakihara is both a sadist and a masochist, he craves the ultimate experience of pain and this is the reason why he is so eager to find his missing boss because that person is the only one who could give him the most intense pain imaginable. Ichi is usually timid and cowardly, but after being hypnotized, he turns into a killer. The ending is bleak with all the major characters dead.

Trainspotting follows a young heroin addict named Mark Renton living in Edinburgh. Mark and his friends spend much of their time addicted to heroin, bouncing between getting high, committing petty crimes, partying, and trying to get rid of their addictions.

It includes disturbing scenes of drug addiction, infant death, overdose, violence, and sexual content. One scene ("the worst toilet in Scotland") is particularly shocking.

The nun costume is very iconic. The controversial part is that She literally went on a killing spree and killed people who didn't hurt her which does not sound right.

Nekromantik is directed by Jörg Buttgereit, it also has a sequel which was released in 1991. The story is about a man named Rob who works cleaning up the bodies of accidents victims. He secretly takes body parts and a corpse home to share with his girlfriend.

The only thing that could be considered "romantic" is the soundtrack, the graceful music and the gross movie scenes creates a sharp contrast. The ending is absurd, melancholic and somewhat disgusting. It also shows Rob's childhood memories as the reason why he turns out to be necrophiliac, but I doubt that viewing animal cruelty will automatically turn someone that way.

The house that Jack built is a psychological horror movie directed by Lars von Trier.

Jack is a highly intelligent but narcissistic serial killer, he sees murder as a form of art and believes his crimes are expressions of beauty and perfection. The movie explores his psychology, ego, and descent into madness, leading to a symbolic and philosophical ending inspired by Dante's Inferno.
