High paying job or lower paying job with advancement and more opportunities?

Hello all, for reference I am 28 years old and have a ways to go before retirement. I have two jobs available to me right now and struggling to make a decision on them. They are both dod contracting positions.

One is a dead end job (not really any transferable skills or career advancement opportunities) with a good company that pays $170k/yr.

The other opportunity is a position with a reputable large company that has more opportunity for career advancement and much more transferable skills however this pays $120k/yr.

The higher paying one looks so much more appetizing on paper. Sure it pays more and who knows how long it could take for me to work my way from 120-170k.

At the higher paying position the lack of transferable skills and the smaller company, leads me to believe I would have much less of a chance of getting repositioned or finding new work if contracts end or layoffs happen.
