Cybersecurity
Hello everyone,
I’m interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity and I’m hoping to build my skills and eventually work in this field. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend university this year, so I’ve decided to take a different approach and start learning on my own.
I have some previous experience with Linux and Kali Linux. I was learning the basics and experimenting with Kali Linux for a while, but unfortunately, my computer stopped working, so I had to put my learning on hold. I’m planning to get a new computer soon and start learning again, this time in a much more serious and structured way.
The problem is that I’m not really sure where I should start or what path I should follow. I know there are many different areas to learn, such as Linux, networking, Python, cybersecurity fundamentals, penetration testing, CTFs, and so on. However, I’m having a hard time figuring out what I should learn first, what I should focus on, and how I should structure my learning process.
If there are people here who have experience in cybersecurity or have managed to enter the field through self-study, I would really appreciate any advice you could give me. I would especially like to know which topics I should learn and in what order, which resources or platforms you recommend, where I can get hands-on practice, and what kinds of beginner projects would be useful for building real skills.
I’m also curious about how realistic it is to enter the cybersecurity industry without a university degree. Can someone realistically reach a professional level through self-study, practical experience, projects, CTFs, certifications, and consistent learning, and eventually find a job in the field?
I’m willing to put in the time and effort, but I would really appreciate some guidance from people who have already been through this journey.
Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to share their experience and advice. Any recommendations, resources, roadmaps, or personal experiences would mean a lot to me.
