Is he some kind of experiment and not actually an android at all? Is he a Poppy’s Playtime style cyborg? Or any other ideas?
It’s kinda bothered me that Olivia is the only human character with unnatural features. Mainly her purple eyes, but also her white and purple hair. Every other human character we’ve seen has had hair and eye colors naturally occurring in reality, except her. There’s a picture over her bed that shows that she use to have black hair. She might have dyed it, sure. Maybe the purple streaks are to match her dad (who I assume also dyed his hair). But if that were the case she’s been dying her hair the exact same way for a long time.
The eye color is what really makes me think something’s up with her. I doubt she’s been wearing color contacts since she was that young. My initial thought is that maybe the real Olivia died and Orville brought her back as an android, but she wasn’t the same. I imagine being aware that she’s a mere copy of a dead person would mess would mess with her severely, potentially explaining her cold and ‘robotic’ demeanor when she was little. Orville obviously had means, creating androids is his whole business. It does feel a bit cliche, or maybe thats just me. I’ve noticed that the “Replacement Goldfish” trope has gotten a lot of use in recent years. Dana did do a very similar thing with Hunter in TOH (who coincidentally also has purple colored eyes indicating his status as a clone, but that’s definitely a stretch) So maybe she just likes the trope a lot.
The main hole in this potential theory is why would a robot clone age the way she did. No idea why Orville would do that seeing as he’s so obsessed with the idea of ‘perfection’. But unless we see more human characters with unusual eye colors, I definitely think something’s up with her.
