Sedation and Food

Hey everyone, my diabetic cat has been having constipation issues lately. We had to take him to the vet yesterday (July 3rd) morning where he was sedated/got an enema. I picked him up yesterday around 4:30pm and the sedation was still kicking his ass. He was still very wobbly. His appetite never came back last night so I did not give him his insulin shot.

Fast forward to 12 hours later since I’ve picked him up from the vet. I’ve been to bed and woken up. It’s almost 5am and he still has no appetite. He’s drinking water and I’ve seen him pee a few times. I would normally give him his insulin around 9am so I’m hoping he gets hungry within the next 4 hours..

Of course it’s the 4th of July so our regular vet will be closed, but how long do I give it before I need to bring him to an emergency vet? We don’t have a way of monitoring his levels at home and since we skipped a dose last night I’m worried about skipping another

EDIT: Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions. Unfortunately my sweet boy didn’t make it. I brought him to the emergency vet about an hour after I made this post and he was already in DKA. With his extensive medical history the vet suggested it was best to let him go. My wife and I knew this was probably his last year but we’re still heart broken. His name was Brutus. He was the sweetest, biggest boy. I’m gonna miss you man. I love you
