Weird vaginal pain after period

For the past couple of months, I’ve noticed that when my period is about to start, like a two-three days prior, I may experience burning when I pee. It’s always very slight and I’m only aware of it because it’s out of the ordinary. It doesn’t always happen whenever I pee during these days; just maybe once a day or so. In any case, it clears up as soon as the period starts and then I’m normal again.

However, for the past maybe 4 months, whenever my period ends, I FEEL like there’s something wrong with my coochie in general. I tested for an infection the first month and found nothing. At that time, I had a random needle-prick-like pain on one side of my vagina, like maybe a cm or two past the entrance.

I eventually got a high vaginal done 2 months ago when, towards the end of my period, the discharge was so foul that it genuinely scared me. Turns out I had a yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis and I was adequately treated - got a cream that goes into vagina and antibiotics and I genuinely felt like myself again.

Next period, I was perfectly normal.

Then this last period (ended last Sunday) came and went normally- the slightest burning sensation maybe two days to my period and then the period came. It’s now about a week since the period ended and this whole time, my vagina just… hurts. I’d say it’s akin to the pain you’d feel if you have a wound… except there’s no wound!

It’s not 24/7 pain… it comes in waves. But when it’s not there, I’m just oddly… aware? Of my vagina. Like there’s a feeling, maybe discomfort that I can’t quite explain but I’m understanding it to mean that the area is just not okay and that’s why I’m constantly FEELING my vagina. There’s a very odd, overly warm sensation from below my clitorus to the entrance of my vagina and it’s constant.. it’s all similar to the feeling of a wound (as if a burn wound); it’s not as intense as the one that comes to my vagina but it’s non-stop. The outer lips of my cookie are fine. The clit upwards are also okay. No pain when I pee, and I’m not itching it any way. I also have no bumps or rashes or anything. Skin looks and feels just fine.

I’m not sure what the issue is. I have only one male sexual partner who is committed to me; I see them once a month. These vaginal issues span the entire length of our relationship however before we got intimate, I was in a camp for 2 weeks and we had very few toilets that were rarely cleaned and I was quite sure I left with some kind of infection because even towards the end, I had burning when I peed (which cleared up and left me with that needle-prick feeling that was especially sharp when I peed). But that’s the time I tested and was told I had nothing… until I did the HVS test - almost 2 months post-camp.

I should be ovulating, and I probably am, going by my discharge, but my sex drive is so low… and it has been, since these issues started. Except maybe last period, after the medication. I could be overthinking it, but I feel like the smell of my discharge is slightly off… like it’s smelling a little too much, but not necessarily smelling badly if that makes sense. I genuinely can’t tell if my brain is just making it up because of what I’m feeling down there.

I should also add that I recently discovered that the water of the area I moved to immediately after the camp- so for the duration of these health issues and my relationship with this new sexual partner - has a lot of calcium deposits in the water. My kettle has a weird coating and I learnt that it’s the water over here because we’re right next to a mountain. Sinks also regularly clog because of that, according to natives. And for the people closest to the mountain, they even get yellow stains on their teeth. I don’t know if this has anything to do with my vaginal health. If it does, is using bottled water safer or are there ways to counter the issue maybe by pre-boiling the water or something?

Is it me, my partner or the water?

I’m a 28F, 5”8, 88kg. I go out to drink maybe once a month, I don’t smoke anything or use drugs of any kind and I’m not on any medication… except the painkillers I took 2 weeks ago for the period cramps that almost killed me (abdominal and back cramps PLUS general body weakness and excessive joint pain and headache). I actually went to hospital that time, but they ran a Complete Blood Count and found everything was “normal”.

About 85% of the time, I’m eating whole foods that have been made from scratch with very little or no added oils or excessive salt or spices. I do take a little sugar in tea but I don’t drink milk or eat other dairy frequently. I don’t use feminine washes or anything of that kind (except virgin coconut oil after waxing once a month, but I’ve done that for years now)… but in these 4 months, I did start washing my underwear in a washing machine instead of handwashing it as I always did before… could that also be an issue? The detergent is from the same brand i use to hand wash and I make sure to use the pre wash and extra rinse settings then sun dry.

TLDR: after period, vagina pains like I have a wound down there but there’s actually nothing.
