Need advice on DHL/Indian Customs issue “Whoop”
I ordered a WHOOP device to India and paid the correct amount. But DHL says Customs found a mismatch in the declared value on the shipment documents, and now they are asking me to pay ₹10,000 extra before releasing it.
WHOOP is saying they won’t reimburse customs duties/taxes/penalties. But my issue is: if the wrong declared value was on the shipping documents, that wasn’t my mistake .
I didn’t create the invoice or customs declaration.
I’ve asked DHL for the official customs challan/order, exact reason, and full breakup of the ₹10,000 charge, but I’m still trying to verify if it’s legit.
Has anyone dealt with this before?
Can DHL ask for this without showing official Customs proof?
And if it’s a penalty due to wrong declaration, should WHOOP be responsible?
