I saw another post explaining drive times are often longer than expected so thought I’d ask this

We are thinking of renting a car for a day during our August trip to see one of the waterfalls at Brecon Beacons, then on to Hay-on-Wye for lunch and browsing/walking around then back to Cardiff that evening

Is this doable? Background we are Americans who’ve never been to the UK or driven on the left before
