I had already asked the forging sub about this but I was wondering where I can find beginner level items for a setup for making knives. My budget is around 500-800 dollars. Finally what are the basic necessities for starting my smithing journey.
As a kid I always watched forged in fire and I have always told myself that one day I would try it out. I have no clue what is necessary for a beginner to just start off forging knifes. Like is a belt grinder necessary or is it just a commodity? Also I am trying to keep the material cost between 300-700 dollars but I don’t want to be too cheap because I would like the setup to last a while. Please help me with any tips or advice on what to look out for.
