A or B: Help me decide which retirement trip to plan for my husband
My husband will be retiring next year and we will be taking a retirement trip the following spring, I just can’t settle on the kind to take and he is more than happy to relinquish any planning or decision making.
Option A: Rhine River cruise starting in Switzerland and ending in Amsterdam and then travel up to England and Ireland for another week. The cruise would be about a week long and an excursion at each port is included in the cost. Cost would be about $6k per person just for the cruise and we also plan to bring my stepson. He graduates from university next spring so I’m not sure what his vacation days will look like the following year after he starts working in his career, which is one hesitation. My mother in law will also be joining and I know she would enjoy the cruise.
Option B: We rent a car and just plan the entire thing with hotels and stops and do whatever we want in Germany for a week and then continue on to England and Ireland. I feel like this would be easier for my stepson to join in at anytime.
We have spent a fair amount of time in Germany and I absolutely love it there. The cruise would be easier but most likely more expensive and just renting a car would most likely be cheaper but there are many more decisions and plans to make.
