The beautiful sights you will get by starting a race in the morning, late afternoon, using medium or heavy clouds or mixing in some proper rain or even a storm in between are breathtaking. If all you race is Sunny at noon then you are missing out big time !
Can be enabled under Options - Gameplay - Display - HUD Beta set to ON
Then enter any Prac/Quali/Race session, Pause, Options - Edit Hud layout.
Not sure how many people edited the default HUD at all (tons of youtube videos show people have everything as default), so here is mine (same layout VR and non-VR) that others might find useful. Specifically enabling the full speedometer has a LOT of information:
- water and oil temp
- amount of fuel left and for how many laps
- if headlights and high beams are On or Off
- TC and ABS usage
- amount of clutch, brake and throttle input
- current gear, speed, revs and at what point is the rev limiter
On the left you can then see Overall Leaderboard which shows Blue PIT text if someone is in the pits right now, and a Red square showing they have a time penalty (currently bugged, number always says 0, minimum is always 10+)
Then you can enabled a small square showing Lap/Time/Position.
Current weather, upcoming weather pattenr that always shows what is next even when a pattern is set to Random and extra helpful when using Real Weather.
Relative leaderboard, showing in White names of drivers on the same lap, closest two ahead and two behind. Red names are Car Lap(s) Ahead, Blue name means Car Lap(s) Down.
Radar at 100 zoom level placed just above the speedo, showing everyone's placement around me.
Aero, brake, suspension and engine damage box, showing also tire and brake temperatures and tire pressures.
Full track map to see who / how many cars are in the pits, if they are exiting/entering right now, where exactly can you expect lap traffic to come into play and better gauge distance away from closest opponents.
I am sure lots of people will comment "No hud for immersion", but this is what i use for online racing to have as much of an advantage over the competition as possible. And you should too.
Last big update finally re-added the puddles. Be sure to use 10x, 15x or 20x time scaling too as it will increase the speed at which standing water forms. Then when the sun comes out seeing the dry line form and track clearing up is incredible.
Took a long while for wet weather to finally come back in the way it was meant to be (puddles were removed way back with the 1.6 update) but it was worth the wait !

AI improvements with new Balance of Performance scaling !
The latest AMS2 update added a feature where every AI driver can be assigned performance values for car weight, power, drag and downforce.
What is great is Reiza also made it so if you decide to drive in a midfield car or even backmarker with this new AI xml file, you will have the same maximum performance as the AI in the same car !
Now you will no longer be able to blitz the field as Bobby Wawak, instead you will have to focus on delivering the best possible position given what your car can do.
This also significanly changes lap times between P1 a P40. Before the new AI settings, at the short Watkins Glen it was a 3.5 seconds difference. With the new performance scaling set for the whole field, P1 and P40 have an 8 seconds difference !

I posted this over 2 years ago but obviously new people started playing AMS2 and using the CrewChief app so this might prove helpful again.
Few overtakes at the start, afterwards P2 was in touching distance since lap 4 until lap 14, always yields even when side by side. There are no settings to fix this.
Also racing in the rain finally makes sense because the puddles are back, and it is awesome !
So far 5 teams out of 14 are finished.
Very underused feature is having AI as traffic in online races.
9 of us in GT4s, AI in other GT4 and TS Cup cars at 85% difficulty in a 15 minute race made for fun traffic management, can only recommend to try stuff like this more !

POV 1 Green car : P4, had zero rubber remaining on the right front and was 4 seconds off the pace in the last 5 laps compared to everyone else.
POV 2 Blue car : In P5, had tires in fine condition and said after the race he was not aware of the tire condition of the car ahead nor that he would be driving so slowly (gap with 5 to go was around 15 seconds and came down to just 2 on the final lap)
POV 3 Red car : In P6, had tires in fine condition.
Last few seconds of the clip there is the 11 FedEx car which is me taking advantage of the curfuffle.
My question is did the driver of the GREEN car do anything deserving of a penalty, going so much slower from the high lane to the low lane and put the drivers in P5 and 6 in danger, or should the drivers in P5 and P6 have done something different and was there enough time to react/predict the movement of the GREEN car ?
