Anyone skipping GL on: Sid - huge map, archipelago 70% water/continents

Hello guys,

so i came back to one of my favourite games after years. AI is ruining my fun and calling me noob, since I use GL to close Ancient times research gap. But generally AI is very below average IQ talking trash, so I went to couple of forums and found out this:

Many Sid players recommend skipping GL in favour of army, calling GL a "noob trap". However, +- 100% of these players use some different mechanic to avoid runaway AI.

These are mostly 1) small map 2) archipelago with high water. All mechanics I see are trying to either to minimise AI town count (small space) or giving option to destroy it in few hours.

Thing is, in my experience, in Huge map with mid/high water, AI which is born on continent I cant reach untill Astronomy, will always run away. Huge map allows AI to get to 4 turn/research quite easy. And due to Ocean between us, it will always run away, unless I close the starting gap asap, using GL.

I understand advice to rush AI with army is better than GL, but I cant do it when Ocean is between us.

I have rolled perfect map now. Seems one of best maps I ever rolled. Map is so good it allows me to get to 4turn/research really really fast, so I have unique opportunity to attempt run without GL. However, I actually feel this is the noob move. I cant make myself skip closing Sid starting gap. The only thing pushing me to do it, is stupid AI trying to convince me it can be done, no matter I have never seen anyone do it.

So, anyone managed to beat Huge map Sid with separated continents with no GL?

Dear Firefox crew,

I am using your browser since you made this company. Now is two decades.

It was always the best of browsers.

Latest patches added:

  1. pop-up on start trying to force me to load firefox on start. I already clicked cancel 100 times. Could you please stop it?

  2. pop-up trying to force me to save my bookmarks.

WTF? So on every browser start, I need to disable two pop-ups?

So you turned in another TRIAL-TEST-CLICKBAIT company hoping I will missclick after I disable your bait for 1000 times? Do you have a new product management trying to push new features? If so, you should fire these fellas.

This is literal nightmare in direct opposition of Firefox growth in two decades. Firefox was always lightweight and I literally dont have PC to start 100 programs at start. Microsoft is forcing me to do that and that is why I am using minimum of Microsoft tools. You were always better, now you are turning in same nightmare as them.

What happened? Will you stop slowing load of browser with clickbait trash pop-ups, or do I need to change browser after two decades?

Regards,

T
