Quick thoughts on the demo

I'm not much of a puzzle gamer, but I played Braid when I was younger and followed Jonathan Blow's content, so I thought I'd give this game a go.

I have to say - I've never been much of a fan of the aesthetic sensibilities of his games, and this game doesn't change that trend. The art direction to me is very bland, although not outright bad per se. The sound design is also decent, but again is not particularly unique.

I remember the story in Braid being incomprehensible and this game is similar. I like that there's more story here than the complete lack of one in the witness, but it's still hard to follow along. I wish that there was more of a focus on telling us in a more direct way who these characters are, what they're doing in the world, and why we should care about them. There's also some attempts at light humour, which pretty much all misses for me.

The puzzle design is fantastic and draws me right in. Each puzzle feels like it has a separate theme, and the game does a good job of introducing new concepts in a digestible way. I'm hoping that there will be some more twists and interesting meta-puzzles later on in the game as well.

I'll most likely purchase the game - I think it'd be a good game for the Switch as I can bust out a few puzzles whenever I have a moment.
