Tony Accardo and Sam Giancana

These men had a clearly complex relationship, and were likely allies, peers, and eventually at odds. Two of the most fascinating members of OC in my opinion.

Hyatt Corporation, the Pritzker's, Teamsters Pension Fund loans, and organized crime.

The Hyatt Corporation was born 1957-09-27 upon the purchase, allegedly for $2.2m, of Hyatt R. Von Dehn’s share of the Hyatt House, at Los Angeles International Airport, by Jay Pritzker. Hyatt Von Dehn and partner Jack Dyer Crouch built the Hyatt House chain of hotels starting in 1954 with LA. Jay Pritzker and Jack Crouch will be partners until 1965, and will later complete airport hotels in cities including San Francisco, Seattle, and San Jose. The Pritzker family was law partners of Stanford Clinton, attorney for the Central States Pension Fund. Stanford Clinton is also the attorney who will represent Tony Accardo in his 1962 appeal on income tax evasion charges. Jack Crouch later executes a trust deed on the property at 1333 Old Bayshore Highway, Burlingame, CA and a chattel mortgage on all personal property in the Hyatt House as security for a $2m loan from the Teamsters Central States Pension Fund.

1970-06-?? – Sidney Korshak, whom Federal investigators accuse of having ties to organized crime, testifies before the SEC that he was retained by the Hilton Corporation to help it enter the Las Vegas market and added: “And I believe it is possible Hyatt Hotels talked to me about the possibility of their making an acquisition in Nevada.”

1978-12-07 – The Securities and Exchange Commission today accused the Hyatt Corporation of having failed to disclose conflicts of interest between it and the Pritzker family, which controls 35 percent of the company's stock. Hyatt operates hotels, hospitals and gambling casinos.

While neither admitting nor denying the allegations, Hyatt has agreed to disclose the relevant facts to its shareholders. The company also has agreed not to go private, as planned, unless a majority of the non‐Pritzker shareholders approve.

The S.E.C. made its allegations in an administrative proceeding filed today, which was simultaneously settled by the company. The allegations pertain to three separate series of transactions, in which the company allegedly failed to disclose adequately conflicts of interest between the company and the Pritzkers or the risks assumed by the corporation because of the transactions.

Details of Allegations

According to the allegations, Hyatt failed to disclose that:

There was a tie‐in between a loan obtained from the Central States, Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the subsequent purchase by Hyatt of hotel property at Lake Tahoe owned by the pension fund.

Twenty‐four minimum payment leases on hotel property negotiated largely by the Pritzker family were structured so that the “the success or failure of any particular venture was a risk borne by Hyatt and not the Pritzker family.”

Three hotel ventures in New Orleans, Indianapolis and Cambridge, Mass, financed almost entirely by the Prudential Insurance Company of America, were structured “from the outset to provide, among other benefits, substantial tax benefits to the Pritzker family, even though the Pritzker family supplied a small amount of the capital involved.”

Explanation Is Offered

A Hyatt spokesman said that the company was consenting to the commission's order “rather than bear the additional costs and drain on management that could continue over a long period.” In addition, he maintained that the “S.E.C. really didn't allege any wrongdoing” by Hyatt in failing to disclose full information about the transactions with the teamsters' pension fund or with Prudential.

“Counsel at that time advised and present counsel still advises that such information was not necessary or required,” the spokesman said. “At most it was an inadvertent omission, and there has never been any reluctance on Hyatt's part to make the information available.”

Nevertheless, the company has agreed to send a full report on the transactions to its shareholders. And Hyatt agreed that the Pritzker family's offer to purchase all of the company's shares, scheduled for January, will not take place unless the majority of nonPritzker shareholders approve the acquisition.

How did Sammy Gravano get made by the Gambinos in 1976 if the only murder he did prior to this was the 1970 murder of Joe Collucci for Tommy Spero of the Colombos?

Gravano says in Mafia States of America that he got made in 1976 and the only murder he did prior to this would have been the Collucci murder in 1970 for Tommy Spero. Why would the Gambinos make him if this was the case?

On top of this, Gravano left the Colombos prior to this (I believe) due to beef with the Speros?
