HDFC rejected DCBM
Need suggestions for a “one main card” setup after getting rejected for HDFC DCB Metal because my salary was literally ~1.5K below their criteria 😭
I had applied offline for DCBM through my RM, and before processing it they asked me to close my existing HDFC cards.
Current cards:
- Amex Platinum Travel
- Axis Magnus
- IDFC Mayura (got FYF, mainly keeping it for zero forex markup)
- Scapia (Don’t use it because of very low limits)
Previously had:
- HDFC Millennia
- HDFC Marriott Bonvoy
- Tata Neu Infinity
Had to close all 3 because my RM said they couldn’t process DCBM while these were active. Ended up getting rejected anyway 🫠
My monthly spends:
- ~60–70K regular spends
- ~70K rent, but can’t use RedGiraffe etc because landlord is an NRI
Travel pattern:
- Me: ~2 international + 2 domestic trips/year
- Parents + sister: ~3–5 domestic trips/year
What I’m looking for:
- A “no bullshit” premium card that’s actually worth consolidating around
- Good reward ecosystem, preferably transferable hotel points
- Add-on cards with lounge access for parents (important since they travel separately sometimes)
- Decent forex markup or at least value on international spends
- Good support/service and not overly complicated milestone gaming
I’m okay paying fees if the value is genuinely there, but I don’t want to manage 5–6 cards anymore.
