Full disclaimer: I work for a company that helps businesses book hotels for international trade shows.

We have been in the industry for more than 16 years, but things have shifted quite a bit in the last 2 years. People used to book their accommodation well in advance of the event, but these days we get a lot of requests for available rooms even up to a week before the event. We also attend trade shows, but it's different for us because we don't have to outsource our bookings.

Is this a new trend, or are people just unsure due to the economic situation worldwide? Very curious to hear from other exhibitors/attendees.
