Looking for an Investor or Strategic Partner for an Automotive Lubricants Business

Hi everyone,

I'm building an automotive lubricants business focused on supplying engine oil to international distributors and repair shops.

I'm looking for an investor or strategic partner to help scale the business through inventory, logistics, and market expansion. In return, I'm looking to build a long-term partnership with someone who shares the vision.

If you have experience in automotive products, international trade, or startup investing, I'd love to connect. Feel free to send me a DM.

Thank you!

Should I find investors first, or start contacting international buyers for my engine oil business?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice from people with experience in importing/exporting or growing a product business.

I'm building a business around supplying automotive engine oil. My goal is to sell to independent auto repair shops and distributors in countries like the US, Canada, Australia, and other international markets.

At the moment, I'm trying to decide which path makes the most sense:

  • Should I focus on finding investors first so I have enough capital for inventory, shipping, and expansion?
  • Or should I start contacting international buyers now to see if I can secure interest or purchase orders before looking for investors?

My thinking is that if I can get real interest from buyers, it might be easier to convince investors or lenders later. On the other hand, I'm wondering if I need funding first to appear more credible and be ready to fulfill orders.

If you've built an export business or sold physical products internationally, what would you do if you were starting from scratch?

I'd really appreciate any advice, mistakes to avoid, or strategies that worked for you.

Thanks in advance!
