First trip to Iceland, second night in a row that the north lights have put on a show.

Taken tonight (October 6, 2026) at Panoramic Glass Lodge West near Borgarnes. I have always wanted to see the northern lights with my own eyes, and I have been blessed to see them on full display 2 nights in a row.

Tonight I watched pillars of light dance around from the comfort of my own(rented) bedroom. Was much more pleasant than freezing my tail off like I did last night. I was nervous that we’d have terrible weather at this lodging since this was the main reason I booked it, but fortunately that gamble paid off in a big way tonight.

Intense aurora tonight. Could see vivid green and red colors without a camera.

Located just west of Vik. Taken around 23:15 local time on 10/5.
