Need some hope

My son was born at 25+6 and is now 35 weeks. He’s been intubated his whole life. He had a pda closure 5 days ago and over the last 2 days, his oxygen has increased from 40 to 75% with no clear explanation so kinda expecting pulmonary hypertension, which he did not have prior to pda closure. He has an echo tomorrow.

I was so hoping he would be extubated after this closure and now this. It’s looking like he’ll never get extubated and I’m so upset.

Does anyone else feel this way

Something just irks me when I’m venting to my support people about the NICU, what’s going on with my son, the things that feel so overwhelming in life right now, etc., and all they offer is “you’re so strong, you’re doing an amazing job, idk how you’re doing it.” It just doesn’t help me, and I don’t want to hear “how strong I am”, I want my baby to be okay and home with me.

Feeling anxious a

Long story short- my baby was born at 26 weeks and is now 32 weeks PMA. He has a large PDA that needs closure at another facility in our state. He is on the jet, but cannot be transported on that. His team is weaning his settings to get to a conventional knowing he will likely need to go back on the jet when he gets to the facility for the procedure. I am just sad. Getting to a conventional vent is so huge, my husband and I are so eager for him to be on it and stay on it so my husband can finally hold him skin to skin. Anticipating that he will be transitioned to conventional and then put back on the jet is upsetting even if I know that’s what is best for his lungs. Just sad

Spiraling

Hi everyone, my baby was born at 25+6 due to IUGR and is currently 30 weeks corrected today. He’s been on the jet, oscillator and conventional vent for various amounts of time over the last 4 weeks, and did a brief stint with NAVA until he had a pulmonary hemorrhage at 4 days old and needed to be reintubated. He had to go to the oscillator 5 days ago from the conventional vent due to increasing CO2 and it’s improved a lot on the oscillator but increased last night again from agitation and they had to increase his sedation. He’s also got a pneumonia currently they are treating.

I’m so worried he’s going to need a trach when he comes home. I know that is not the end of the world. Is there any hope that he could just come home on low flow???
