Cataract surgery

Anyone had cataract surgery while having active inflammation? My eye is so bad that I can’t see clearly. Everything is blurry foggy and darker. At night I see starburst, flare, ghosting. I can’t read text or even see my face clearly from 1 meter away in the mirror.

My other eye is healthy, so my brain is trying to match the two images, and I feel dizzy and like drunk every day.

I’m on MTX, but after 3 months my liver enzymes are higher so we’ll probably need to stop it and try something else. I’m still using dexamethasone drops twice a day and three different glaucoma drops.

I’m so done with all of this. 2 years long flare, never got better. I feel like I’m going to lose my vision or something. My doctor said the inflammation is very low, maybe 0.5+ cells or less, and she isn’t worried about it. She’s more concerned about the pressure.

I have a cataract, but my doctor said it’s not that bad. Still, my vision is really bad. Has anyone been in a similar situation or had cataract surgery while there was still some inflammation? My vision was okay in January only starburst etc and then went downhill in 6 months. OTC is clear, nerves are healthy.

Cataract

How does your cataract feel? I was on Pred drops long-term, up to 6–8 times per day, but since last year no lower than 3 drops because of the constant flare. I started MTX at least a month ago. They told me my eye is quiet and my IOP was 18. But my vision became so blurry in the last 3 months. It went downhill. I can't read licence plates anymore. Also, colors are dull and everything is darker. White color is like a darker brownish white. It also feels like I am looking through an oily window. Most annoying is that it's only one eye. Another eye is healthy, and I feel so dizzy because one eye has good vision and the other doesn't, and my brain is trying to merge the images. The doctor told me I have a cataract. Also, like 3–4 months ago another doctor told me, "Oh, you developed a cataract" so our guess is that my vision went downhill because of it. They did an OCT scan. The doctor told me my nerve is healthy and my macula too. I have anterior uveitis. My doctor is uveitis specialist. I am so afraid they missed something and my vision is lost forever. They told me we can do cataract surgery only when my eye is quiet for at least 3 months. In the last 2.5 years, that never happened. I hope MTX will do the job. My mental health is so bad. I am so done and tired of this disease.

MTX and liver

I’m on MTX and have already taken four weekly doses of 10 mg and two weekly doses of 15 mg. It’s been working well, and my flare has calmed down. However, today my ALT was 65, while the upper limit of the normal range is 45.

I’m worried. I still haven’t heard from my specialist, but hopefully they’ll call tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this? Two weeks ago, my ALT was 40.

Body stops breathing when on verge of sleep

Like the title suggests, sometimes when I'm right on the verge of falling asleep, it feels like my body forgets to breathe. It's almost like the automatic breathing function stops working for a moment.

I admit I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, so I often lie there focusing on my breathing which then makes me feel like I have to breathe manually.

I had a sleep study done, but they didn't find anything. That night I also didn't experience one of these episodes. Sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't.

When it does happen, I get a very intense feeling of panic. Sometimes I even feel like screaming. I also get pressure in my chest high HR for 15 sec then I calm down and it feels like I'm dying. My doctor thinks it's anxiety because it doesn't happen every night.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I don't know what to do. Sometimes it happens five times in a row, and then I eventually fall asleep.

MTX timeline

If you're taking MTX how long did it take for it to start working for you? I've been on 10 mg for 3 weeks and 15 mg for the last week. Next week will be week 5. So far, I haven't had any side effects and my blood tests have been normal. My doctor is planning to increase my dose to 20 mg once a week.
