Tom Morris the most insufferable boundary rider of all time. I'd even prefer Dipper

Feck me that Tom Morris as boundary rider is insufferable. He spends half the game time turning it into footy classified and trade rumours while the commentators are supposed to be describing the game.

Boundary rider should describe injury from the bench, maybe what subs are happening or the weather. That's it. Not which club is hunting which player and how much they might cost in the open market while actual play is unfolding...

USA and refs

Oh, now they are ok with whining about the refs after having home cooking against us. The worm always turns

Take your medicine as they helpfully told us?

Set pieces

We may be used to floating up set pieces to the giant lad who towers over Asian teams but we are in the big time now, everyone knows where the ball is going and he's crowded out every time. It should however present free men elsewhere.

Time to start working on set pieces this week that arnt harry focused. And ffs let's atleast try to beat the first man

Volpato

Popa barely mentioned Volpato in the post match, the guy basically changed the entire flow and shape of the game. Held the ball, strong over the ball, linked defence midfield and attack, drove at defenders. He has a tool kit we don't really have otherwise

I have this funny feeling Popa doesn't wanna make it easy for him as some kind of subconscious punishment for holding out so long

Hop he starts next game and has yengi to aim for rather than crossing to a 5"6 guy..

Why are lefties always the best kicks?

What do these guys have in common?

Bont

Guilden

Pendles

Farrell

Dawson

Merrett

Blakey

Jezza

Probably the best kicks in the game, all lefties, even middling players like Brayden Campbell or D' Ambrosio mainly known for their leg, left.

Every draft they say player X is the best kick in the draft, this year it was Lindsay and Farrow...yep left

So what actually is it that makes lefties the best kicks?

I've seen it written that it's because all through jnrs opponents covered the right side so they had more time, I don't buy it, others say the side of the brain operating the left side is more divergent and has better creativity and spatial awareness, again, not sold.

It looks like a purely mechanical difference to me, in duplo terms it looks like a leftie opens their body when they kick, giving a low raking motion, almost like how a righty lays back when kicking a torp.

And it's funny rightys who can kick on their left well don't have the save sexy action either, it's a pure lefty trait.

Anyway I'm no lefty lover, they get all the favours on the golf courses , easy nicks when bowling in cricket (but do have the same open doing style as the kickers.)

My mother in-law reckons her Catholic school tried to beat lefthandedness out of her cause it was evil! I wouldn't go that far, but somebody sold something to the devil to get such sexy kicking action

Anyone have any theory as to why left = best kicks?

Just a quick one, not sure if it's a great place to post but we're all Melbournites right? We usually help each other out...

I've got a 13 year old son, he has his quirks, but he's ok. Had loads of friends in primary school, a big group that would meet every weekend and do things.

Of late he's lost the sparkle in his eyes, always flat, dosent want to go anywhere, do anything. Just sit and scroll.. ordinarily I'd say it's just the phone but it's more chicken and egg. Then he started missing school... Slippery slope, I know where this all leads and it's not a good place

I finally got something out of him last night when trying to push a bit, he said he'd always tired , can't be bothered doing anything, has nobody to do anything with anyway, his new school friends don't live local, he doseht play sports dosent have any hobbies or even know how to find one cause he hates trying new things Infront of people. Then he said he used to look forward to lunch and recess, now that even feels bad... I don't want to dramatise but it sounds like classic depression.

I slightly broach it, that depression can make you feel tired and not want to go anything, nothing feels fun... You don't have to feel sad to be depressed... But he flat out refuses to talk to anyone or see anyone (or take anything) I'm fine, I don't need to go any of that .

As the parent what do I do next? If I can't get him to talk to a professional? Just keep taking him to do things til something sparks some life? Wait it out like a teenage phase? Covert psychology appointment somehow?

Edit: thanks to everybody for the care and great advice, I've got loads to work with! Onward and upward! Cheers
