FMC is weirded out by sex + slowly discovers her sexuality with MMC

Hi!! I’m looking for a romance where the FMC is genuinely weirded out by sex/intimacy. Not because of sexual abuse or some traumatic backstory, she just… finds the whole thing kind of weird and off-putting. Like “you want to put your WHAT where?? yuuuk 😭” levels of why are people doing this? Do they like it?

But I also want her to slowly discover her own sexuality over the course of the romance. So she can start out genuinely uncomfortable with the idea of sex and not really understand the appeal, while still being capable of attraction and eventually discovering that, with the right person and on her own terms, she actually *does* want it.

Basically I want that progression from “ew, why would I ever want to do that?” → “okay, kissing is actually nice” → “wait… why do I want him to touch me?” → “OH. So this is what everyone has been talking about.”

I’d especially love an MMC who is incredibly patient with her. He’s attracted to her, but he doesn’t pressure her or treat her discomfort like a problem he needs to fix. He takes things slowly, lets her set the pace, and gives her enough time and space to figure out what she actually likes. I want him to be more interested in making her comfortable than getting her into bed.

I’m totally fine with spice eventually! In fact, I’d prefer it. I just want the transition to feel gradual and believable, rather than her going from “sex is gross” to suddenly being obsessed with it because the MMC kissed her twice 😂

And I’d really prefer if she isn’t portrayed as broken or traumatised. She just genuinely hasn’t discovered that side of herself yet, and the romance lets her explore it at her own pace.

I know this is VERY specific, but does anyone have recs for this?? I’m desperate for the “she thought sex was weird until she slowly discovered that actually, she has a sexuality” experience 😭

MMC nuts too fast because FMC is TOO hot

Okay, I’m looking for a very specific trope and I’m hoping someone knows a book with it 😂

I want something where the MMC and FMC have all the buildup, tension, attraction, etc., and when they are finally going to have sex, the MMC is so overwhelmed by how attracted he is to her that he comes almost immediately after just getting inside her. LOL 💀

Then they have to stop because he’s too sensitive, done to continue, so they have to try again later (like days later or something) Basically, he has been waiting all this time, finally gets his chance, gets inside her, and... his body goes, absolutely not, that’s enough for today, she is hoot and we can’t do this. 💀

I’m specifically looking for this happening the first time the MMC and FMC sleep together, not either character’s first time having sex ever. I also don’t mean a recurring premature-ejaculation plotline. I just want that one wonderfully embarrassing, “FMC is so hot that MMC completely short-circuits” moment.

Bonus points if there’s lots of foreplay beforehand and he’s absolutely dying of embarrassment afterwards.

Please tell me this exists. 😭

Looking for adult friends-to-lovers / strangers-to-lovers romances!

I’m looking for romance recommendations where the characters are actual adults and the relationship has some time to develop. I’m particularly in the mood for friends-to-lovers or *mstrangers-to-lovers, although I’m open to variations of those tropes.

What I’m really looking for is a good plot and/or strong character-driven story. I want the romance to feel like it’s actually about two people getting to know each other, developing feelings, dealing with their own baggage, etc., rather than the entire book existing just to get them together.

I’m totally fine with spice, and high spice levels are very welcome, but it’s definitely not a requirement. I don’t mind a very spicy book if the characters and story are still well-developed.

Basically, give me your favourite adult romances where you actually cared about the characters and their relationship. Bonus points for complicated characters, good chemistry, slow-burn development, and a plot that exists beyond the romance.

Please no YA/teen romances — I’m specifically looking for adult characters.

Thanks!

MMC has dyslexia or any another learning difficulty!

Hi everyone!

I'm hoping you can help me find something pretty specific. 😊

I'm looking for historical romances where the MMC has dyslexia or some other learning difficulty (or what we'd identify as one today, even if the book never calls it that). I'd love a hero who struggles with reading, writing, or learning in a traditional way, especially if it's something that's misunderstood because of the time period.

I really enjoy stories where he's capable and intelligent but has spent his life being underestimated or made to feel "slow," and the heroine sees past that. I don't necessarily need her to teach him to read or anything like that—I just love seeing understanding, patience, and someone who recognises his strengths. But if there are some scenarios where ahe helps him then better!

I'm happy with any historical setting: Regency, Victorian, Medieval, Western, Georgian... anything goes!

If you've read anything that fits, I'd really appreciate the recommendations. Thanks so much!

MMC is just a normal guy and FMC has a huge emotional baggage

i was wondering if there are any books where the mmc is just... a normal guy. no mafia, no billionaire, no secret criminal past, no tragic childhood that's the centre of the plot, no endless emotional baggage. he's just an ordinary man living an ordinary life, maybe with a stable job, good friends, and a healthy family. the biggest thing weighing on him is probably feeling like he isn't good enough or worrying that he might not be enough for the woman he loves.

i'm honestly getting a bit fed up with so many romances where the mmc is carrying this massive, traumatic backstory while the fmc spends half the book walking on eggshells around him or trying to fix him.

i'd love to read something with the opposite dynamic. a story where the mmc is emotionally stable, kind, patient, and just... normal. meanwhile, the fmc is the one carrying the heavy baggage, trauma, or emotional scars, and he's the one who helps her heal without trying to "save" her or becoming her therapist. just someone who's steady, supportive, and gives her a safe place to grow.

does anyone know any books with that kind of relationship? i feel like i almost never come across this dynamic, and i'd really love to read more of it.

if it is spicy, better, and any kind of subgenre is fine!

Need your spiciest, filthiest, dirtiest smut recs to pass the weekend!

i'm begging y'all for your filthiest smut recs 😭

my biggest issue with a lot of spicy books is that the first few scenes are amazing, and then after that it feels like i'm reading the same sex scene over and over again. same positions, same dirty talk, same everything, just with different dialogue.

i want books where the smut stays fresh the whole way through. different locations, different dynamics, kinks, experimentation, toys, power dynamics, whatever. if the author actually describes a variety of positions instead of defaulting to the same two every single time, that's a huge bonus too 🙏🏻🙏🏻

i'm open to basically every subgenre (contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, monster, dark romance, etc.) and erotica!! i just want books where the spice doesn't get repetitive halfway through 😩😩

Accidental pregnancy but FMC is older than MMC!

I'll admit it: I'm a huge fan of accidental pregnancy romances. I don't know what it is, but I absolutely love the chaos they create in fiction (and only in fiction, before anyone asks, haha).

I've read quite a few pregnancy romances by now, and today I started wondering if there are any with this specific dynamic: the FMC is older than the MMC, there's an accidental pregnancy, and despite the fact that she's more established, more capable, and maybe even has a much better job than he does, the MMC still genuinely wants to step up and take responsibility because he wants to be there for both her and the baby.

I'd also love it if there were a bit of outside drama. Like the MMC's friends insisting that the FMC is just using him or trying to saddle him with the baby, even though that makes absolutely no sense when you stop and think about it. Meanwhile, the MMC is completely offended on her behalf and shuts them down because he knows that's not who she is. I don't know, I just think that kind of conflict would be really fun to read.

I don't have a preference regarding the age gap other than that everyone is an adult, obviously, but also, not something that it's too large.

Does anyone know any books with that sort of dynamic?

MMC reluctantly has to escort FMC somewhere + long journey + “god, this woman/man is an idiot” energy

Hi all!

I'm looking for post-apocalyptic or sci-fi romance where the FMC needs to get somewhere and the MMC is forced, assigned, hired, or otherwise stuck with escorting her.

I'm not looking for enemies-to-lovers. I'd much rather have a dynamic where they initially find each other annoying, frustrating, or completely impractical, but not genuinely hostile. The vibe is more:

*"Great. I have to travel across a ruined world with her."*

*"Wonderful. I'm stuck with him."*

And then they slowly fall in love along the way.

Things I'm looking for:

* Post-apocalyptic or sci-fi setting

* Long journey/road-trip storyline

* Forced proximity

* Survival elements

* External dangers and obstacles

* Slow burn

* Mutual respect developing over time

* Lots of time spent travelling together

* They become partners/a team before the romance fully develops

Bonus points for ruined cities, dangerous wastelands, scarce supplies, harsh weather, hostile survivors, alien worlds, space travel, or anything where the journey itself is a major part of the story. *And bonus point if she is the one who had no choice but hired him.*

Basically, I want two people who are stuck travelling together through a dangerous world and gradually go from "this person is a complete pain" to "I'd do anything for them."

Any recommendations? I've been craving this exact trope lately and haven't had much luck finding it.

PD: Im really looking for sci-fi/post apocalyptic, but if you have something else like fantasy or historical that the "MMC reluctantly has to escort FMC somewhere + long journey + “god, this woman/man is an idiot” energy" I'll take it regardless!!

FMC loves MMC but is terrified of relationships because of trauma? (friends-to-lovers, mutual pining)

I'm looking for romance books where the FMC has a lot of emotional baggage and trauma, and because of that she's terrified of relationships, commitment, or emotional vulnerability.

I'd especially love it if the MMC has been in her life for a long time (best friend, childhood friend, trusted companion, long-time family friend, etc.) and has always been there for her. Bonus points if everyone can see they're perfect for each other except her.

The key thing is that she genuinely loves and cares about the MMC. She's not cruel to him, doesn't treat him badly, and isn't constantly pushing him away because she's a jerk. She values him deeply and may even be in love with him already, but she honestly doesn't believe she's capable of being a good partner or having a healthy relationship because of her past.

I'm also completely fine with them having some kind of casual sexual relationship, friends-with-benefits arrangement, or physical relationship before they officially get together, especially if it's the FMC's way of convincing herself that she can handle sex but not a real relationship.

I'd prefer the FMC's trauma to come from family issues, neglect, abandonment, toxic parents, or a difficult upbringing rather than sexual trauma, but I'm open to anything if it fits the emotional dynamic.

Other things I love:

* Slow burn * Friends-to-lovers * Mutual pining * Long-term yearning * Patient, supportive MMC * Protective MMC * FMC who is emotionally guarded but still kind * Lots of emotional intimacy * Happy ending required

Any genre is welcome. Thanks!

Marriage-in-trouble but it is an age gap!

Looking for a very specific kind of age-gap romance and I hope I can explain it well...

So, you see, I've ve read a lot of age-gap books, and while I enjoy them, most are written in a way that makes the age gap very easy to accept. The story usually focuses on why these two people work despite the difference in age, and by the end it doesn't feel like much of an issue at all. Not that I'm complaining tou, but I'd love to read something a little different now.

I'm looking for an age-gap couple preferably already married or in a long-term relationship where the age difference is still relevant years later. Not in a dark or toxic way, and definitely not a book where the relationship falls apart because of it. I still want a romance and a happy ending.

What I mean is that I'd like to see the couple struggling with things that might realistically come from being at different stages of life: communication issues, changing expectations, one partner having initially idealised the other, differences in maturity or outlook, that sort of thing.

The vibe I'm thinking of is somewhat similar to the story in "tolerate it" by Taylor Swift: a younger woman who once saw an older man as wise, impressive, or even heroic, only to find herself years later trying to connect with someone who has grown distant or emotionally settled into the relationship. Not a monster, not a caricature, just a complicated person and a marriage that's struggling.

Basically, I'm looking for an age-gap romance that explores the difficulties as well as the appeal, while still giving me a satisfying HEA.

Any recommendations?

the first kiss completely ruins the mmc’s life.

i always see books recs of mmc losing his mind after having sex with fmc, so i want the same but with sonetjing simple as a kiss. like, he kisses fmc for the first time and immediately starts internally freaking out over how good it was, how pretty she is, how cooked he is, etc. then he panics, regrets catching feelings, tries to pull away or convince himself it meant nothing… only to give up and become even more obsessed with her.

he can panic right there or the next day when she is not there etc. i just want a man undone by a kiss and be pathetic over it 🫠

i need maximum yearning and emotional incompetence from the man. bonus points if he’s usually stoic/self-controlled and this absolutely destroys him.

also, if the relationship is more like strangers, to friends to lovers and we see how they make it work, i will be happy!!

small town second chance romance where the FMC was the one who left and became “the one that got away” for MMC

ok so I’m looking for books where the FMC and MMC grew up together in a small town and were basically inevitable. childhood best friends, first loves, first everything, everyone thought they were gonna get married someday, etc etc

and then something happens and SHE leaves town.

years later she comes back for whatever reason and the MMC is still there, still not really over her, and completely thrown by seeing her again 😭

but i really don’t want an asshole MMC. i don’t want him humiliating her every five seconds or acting cold 24/7. i want him to genuinely still love her deep down and hate the fact that he does. like he’s trying SO hard not to fall back into it because last time she left, it wrecked him.

maybe he avoids her at first or keeps everything gentle, ans conversations short because he knows if he lets himself get close again he’ll immediately want her back. maybe he dates around but everyone knows none of it ever meant anything because she’s still the love of his life.

i also want the FMC to feel kind of unwelcome/misunderstood because his family and friends remember how heartbroken he was after she left. like they’re wary of her because from their perspective she shattered him. and then of course they reconnect anyway and all the feelings come back and they start sleeping together again because they have zero self control around each other lol

basically:

* small town vibes

* childhood friends to lovers to exes to lovers

* “you left me” angst

* MMC who never actually moved on

* FMC carrying guilt/regret

* everyone in town invested in their busines

* lots of history, yearning, and emotional intimacy

* emotional smut plsss

i ALWAYS see this trope with the man being the one who left town so i desperately want books where it’s the FMC instead.
