For those in Canada, has Transport Canada's Work-rest rule affected your finances or ruined your enjoyment of the job?

The main reason why I enjoyed my job was working overtime and looking at the pay checks afterwards. I work in light rail passenger service and starting June 1st, we are being limited to 192 hours of work per 30-day period (only 24 hours of overtime a month)

Even if this guarantees me 2-3 shifts a month, it doesn't come close financially to working 6-7 days a week for months on end

Because of this, our company has hired a lot of staff and overtime is not as abundant as it use to be. At one point, I worked 7-day workweeks for 3-4 months and those pay checks gave me something to look forward to.

To me, this work-rest rule does the opposite of allowing proper rest cause a lot of us are now looking at 2nd jobs which may result in us working "more" now and getting less rest. (e.g., working a job before showing up or working even longer hours on our days off)
