New sprites for Marchosias on the Wiki

One curious detail: Marchosias literally calls a Cult Leader in his sprites, which is ironically funny.

And speaking of new sprites, these are the GIFs of Marchosias' second and third encounters, as well as his rotten version before his boss fight.

Likewise, that sprite from the fourth Marchosias encounter that was discarded.

How much do you know about The Fanatic?

I wanted to know how well the community knows this character from Cult of the Lamb. So tell me everything you know about them.

A small update to the wiki. The pages for the minibosses Amdusias and Valefar have been updated, with expanded descriptions, new GIFs, and details of their attacks in their respective battles.

Additionally, new sprites have been added for the Bishop statues, Yngya, and crowns, as well as for the Puzzle areas and Berith's new outfits from the Woolhaven DLC. You can find them on their respective character pages.

If you have any requests or noticed any page that requires a small update, please do not hesitate to request it and, when time allows, a renewal or improvement to said page will be carried out.

Which dungeon will you choose to live in?

Cult of the Lamb offers a wide variety of areas where some individuals come to live, so this question is for you to find out which dungeon you would choose to live in.

CotL Wiki Update #2

Well, this is a small update with new features focused more on sprites that are already on the wiki.

Initially, the sprites already found on the wiki are those of a discarded enemy from the Free Pack, on the discarded content page. In addition, GIFs of a few discarded enemies that were already there were added.

Sprites and GIFs were also added for two missing enemies from the Anchordeep and Silk Cradle biomes.

And finally, to conclude, the sprites for the new Woolhaven curses were added.

Did God have the best mutation?

I think we all understand that the Gods at some point undergo mutations that give them more than just height; they also give them extra parts, such as: More eyes, features they didn't have before, new limbs, etc.

And here I've tried to compile the Gods we've seen with their critter versions, to give a before-and-after comparison so you can choose which one you think had the best mutations.

Edit: There are no lamb critter sprites, so the Lamb critter from the beta is used to represent Yngya.

CotL Wiki Update

I felt like making short posts mentioning content updates I've added to the wiki.

This small update finally adds the GIFs of the missing enemy sprites from Ewefall, completing the Ewefall section with all enemies and their GIFs.

Also added to the resources and discarded content page are some resources that were found, some with interesting descriptions. That's all for this small update.

Origin of the Crowns

As far as we know, the Crowns have a great relationship with the First Gods and the Laws of Nature (which also have a relationship with the First Gods).

But what do you think is the origin of crowns? The oldest record of the existence of the Crowns is a curse called the Oath of the Crown. What are your theories regarding the origin of these divine tools?

Gods and Biomes

There are many gods about whom we have no idea what became of them and their biomes; some may be dead, others hidden, some perhaps asleep.

If you had the opportunity to choose a god-centric update/DLC, which gods would you want to see, and what biomes would they have?

Koka and her Daughters

I realized that many people don't really know the true reason why Koka sacrificed her daughters.

She did not do it out of compassion or to spare her two daughters the torment of having to deal with the Bishops or to bear seeing them die for them. She did it because she realized it was necessary for The Rot ritual.

This leaves a rather stark perspective on Koka's actions in this regard. It will depend on you how you take it.

Biomes Consumed

We know that the Original Lands were not as they are now, and they look this way because the Bishops reshaped and renamed them. We also know that the Bishops consumed other places and biomes, and we don't currently know if any remnants remain or if they have completely disappeared.

But I believe that at least one or three minimal remnants of these ancient biomes/locations belonging to the Original Lands still exist.

Photo 1: Seeing that the Haro Shrine is located on what is a deserted island with palm trees and coconuts, something that no longer exists in the Lands of the Old Faith. Perhaps this piece of land once belonged to the territory of Haro.

Photos 2-4 (are for reference only, and the last ones are from another game by the developers of MM): We know thanks to Flockade and the AMA that the Grasslands were somewhere before the Bishops consumed it. We are not entirely sure what the biome or place was like, but the name gives us a clear idea.

Photo 5: The Lore Room contains several things resembling meat cacti; perhaps The Fanatic's setting was a desert biome. However, we're not entirely sure about that.

What other biomes do you think might have existed in the Lands before the Bishops came to power?

Temi, Aza and Keru's cousin?

I think we all remember the dialogue Temi says when she wakes up as a ghost, she asks about Rami. But what many don't know is that she originally asked about her family, Koka, Chazaq, and her two little cousins. (read the part underlined in blue)

Obviously we don't know if this is still canon, but at least this connection between these characters existed at some point. This would also explain why the second fleece she gives us, which is one she knitted herself, has the colors and stars of Aza and Keru's hats. Well, she probably did it thinking about her two cousins.

Likewise, MM refers to this fleece as the Twin's fleece. So perhaps there is a possibility that the twins could still be related to Temi.

The final moments of The Fanatic

I believe it's known that The Fanatic is an ancient god who was the last recorded to die in the Purge of the Gods. And also that the soul of this Deity ended up in purgatory.

But I don't think we're entirely clear on where The Fanatic died. And after taking a closer look at the Lore Room, perhaps that Ichor stain on the floor is The Fanatic's blood and the place where they died? If we consider that the souls of the Bishops remained to suffer and relive their last agonies in the same place where they died, which were their Temples.

Perhaps the same is true for The Fanatic; their soul is in the same place where they died. But hey, that was just overthinking, haha. Where do you think The Fanatic was killed?

They are not portals, they are Temples

I've seen people talking about these structures, theorizing about whether they're portals or if they have any relevance, and well, I won't say anything about it. I'm simply here to share what they truly are; according to the name these structures have, they are Temples. Or at least parts of a temple.

These Temple structures appear in Anchordeep, Ewefall, and Darkwood.(And the one that appears on the game map is the one that appears in Pilgrim, only for obvious reasons the game map is a more summarized view of the world of CotL, so I won't count it)

Given that these Temple structures appear in Ewefall (Domain of Yngya), I would assume they are remnants left over from the temples of the Gods before the purge. Well, I won't confirm anything, just offer a possible suggestion; I'll just leave you with this information.

CotL World Globe

A small globe can be found in the Aniel Museum; what are your opinions about it? I find it really curious how it is, hehe.

What is your favorite type of Divine entity?

We have many categories for Gods and Divine entities, and I wanted to know which one is your favorite?

  • The First Gods
  • Heretic Gods
  • Chosen Gods
  • Gods of Gold
  • Cryptid Monsters

Laws of Nature in CotL

In the world of Cult of the Lamb, there are laws of Nature, which are related to the ether and the functioning of the world itself. Breaking these laws often creates damage in the ether.

In the game there are at least 3 confirmed laws and two of them are related to the Crowns:

Red Crown: All Life comes to Death.

Cyan Crown: Everything eventually Perishes and is Renewed into new life.

???(Mentioned by Kudaai): Creation breeds Destruction.

We don't know what laws governed the other crowns; what theories do you have regarding the laws that these crowns might have?

This is a proposal on how to make the curses that bishops cast a little more...curses. I think we all felt, or at least a large part of us felt, that the powers of bishops, as if they were gods, were a bit too elusive.

So the proposal is to make these Curses a little more difficult, lasting until you defeat the Bishop (and possibly having a second version when you see them again in the Purgatory)

u/Training-Squirrel-42 — 2 months ago

I wanted to give a brief account of what the supposed purposes of some individuals in the world of CotL were.

And the second image is more of a meme than anything canon; the only canon thing is that the Heretic Gods aren't good at fulfilling their divine duty.

This idea is inspired by the Divine Comedy, but set in the layers of existence, something already mentioned in CotL. (Laplace desing by Tumblr: therekinperson)

First, we would have the beginning of the story with the death of an individual and how his soul, upon dying, ends up in a canoe where he would meet Laplace himself, the God of Destiny (It's a title with a double meaning, since it leads you to your destiny in death, and in turn refers to the destiny of chance). Laplace would be responsible for taking souls through the layers of the world and guiding them to their final destination. The first destination would be Purgatory, where Laplace and the soul would encounter a soul still refusing to leave: The Fanatic. Laplace would ask The Fanatic if they were ready to move on to the afterlife, his tone suggesting this conversation had already taken place several times before. The Fanatic would refuse and begin to unleash their hatred in eloquent words about the Bishops, their heresy, and the chaos they brought to the lands. Here, you would have the option to ask about the era of the Gods or to continue. If you ask, The Fanatic would tell you through a flashback, showing themselves alongside other Chosen Gods, what this divine era was like and how it came to an end. If you refuse, you would simply continue while The Fanatic continues speaking, consumed by their hatred.

The second destination would be The Gateway. This place could have two scenarios depending on the time period. In the first scenario, Narinder is locked up and chained, while Laplace passes by in his canoe and stops in front of him. Here, a conversation would take place with Narinder, who would try to hold Laplace or the soul, but he knows his hands cannot free themselves from their chains. Laplace would ask Narinder if he would let them pass through the gateway to the afterlife. Narinder would be sarcastic and start boasting. Laplace would remind Narinder of his situation, and that in any case, given his condition, he simply had no other choice. This would anger Narinder, but knowing he is right, he would reluctantly grant him passage. The second scenario would be one where The Lamb has already freed Narinder and no one is present. Laplace would recount the lore of the two unique Gods of the Red Crown, explaining how no god worthy of such a role (a Chosen God) ever existed, a role where divine judgment upon souls should be theirs. One (Narinder) initially accepted his role simply because he could find no other use for his crown, until he found a way to break the natural law and planned to open a path between the living and the dead. The other (The Lamb) neglects their role and allows chaos to reign over the souls, and how he himself (Laplace) must ensure that the souls are not lost. Finally, they would pass through a door of light to reach their ultimate destination.

The final destination would be the Realm of Mystic Seller, a place where physics seems to vanish, buildings stare at you, and most importantly, the ether flows in its purest form. Here, Laplace would take his time to explain his divine role and how he has remained hidden among the layers of the world to survive, his guilt, and how he himself had to guide the souls of his followers and divine companions. Finally, reaching a crucial point, you would have one last decision: you can stay with Laplace to accompany him in his eternal task. This would surprise Laplace, but he would be pleased not to be the only entity traveling in these realms, and you would vanish among the layers of the world. The second option is to ask to find peace. Then Mystic Seller would appear and ask you to accompany them. Laplace would bid you farewell, and the soul, along with Mystic Seller, would vanish in a light, where the soul of the nameless being would merge with the ether and become part of the world.

I thought they might show us more of the world, maybe, like, I don't know, maybe an Underworld, or astral planes like dreams or things like that. The real reward for this journey would be unlocking an exclusive follower form from Mystic Seller, since I don't think this mysterious character can be obtained any other way. So, a follower form for this character would be the best.
