Called a slur by child

So I’m a regular staff for a school-age summer program. Yesterday a child In my room was quite upset because we were getting ready to go outside and the other kids were taking too long. He had been on edge all day, swearing at staff and other kids, threatening to harm us. I typically have found with this particular kid, it’s better to ignore(he usually looses interest and stops) but this time the language got worse. He told me to “suck his f*****g d***” then called be the f slur. I am queer so that word stung quite a bit. I was able to speak with my director and all that really happened was me switching rooms for the rest of the day.
My biggest concern is that his behaviour is not being addressed, so he’ll continue to use slurs and in front of other children. That word weighs really heavily on me and I honestly don’t feel very safe going back knowing the way it’s been handled.
