Am I grandfathered-into the 20 year legacy retirement?

Hey everyone, thanks for welcoming me into the forum. I am a USMC veteran currently trying to re-enlist after 6 years of being out. A couple of years before I got out, the military introduced the blended retirement system. Those of us that had been in before 2018, They gave us the option to either opt in or opt out of it. I never opted in, and chose to keep the 20 year legacy retirement. However, a couple of years later I EAS’d. Now I’m in the process of trying to reenlist. Would I be able to still keep the old legacy retirement system? Or will they automatically just put me into the new one? I’ve tried asking my recruiter this, but have not gotten any clear answers. Thanks for any input! The way I see it, it would be so worth it if I could keep the old system. I would just have 15 years til retirement.

USMC vet considering 0083/MCCLEP position. Honest thoughts?

Hey everyone! Thanks for welcoming me to this community. Long story short. 30M. I got out of the Marine Corps a few years ago. I was recently laid off from my job. I have been offered a 0083 position with MCCLEP via an acquaintance who happens to be a retired MSGT. He told me a little bit about the job, but I want to hear what it’s like or if it’s worth it from people doing it. It seems like a gig for people who are already retired collecting a pension and they just want something to do. What sort of credentials do you obtain through the academy? Is this job a good steppingstone to something like the Marshalls/federal law enforcement? what advantages are there if any to pursuing 0083. I have applied and submitted my résumé. Received a response a couple weeks later and I have five days to basically decide whether or not I wanna go through with it. A big part of me also wants to ironically try to reenlist in the Marine Corps even after having been out for a few years. Just weighing my options. Thank you for any input!

Marine Corps vet considering 0083/MCCLEP position. Go for it or run from it?

Greetings everyone I’m new to this forum. Long story short: I got out of the Marines a few years ago and was recently laid off from my job. I’m 30 years old. I have been offered a 0083 position via an acquaintance who happens to be a retired MSGT. He told me a little bit about the job but I’d like to hear from other people‘s experience doing it. Do you gain any transferable LEO credentials with this job? Is it a good place to start for somebody who wants to pursue something like the Marshall service/federal police? I applied, but still weighing my options. A big part of me has even considered reenlisting in the Marine Corps as I still have a desire to “serve” in some capacity while I’m somewhat young. Thanks for any info guys.

What are my options

I left active duty as a Sgt. with honorable discharge in 2018. Im thinking about going back in. Would they take me back? Im 32 years old. Or should I just settle for the Army? I’m trying to source a PSR.
