Golightly and Vannah

DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM — I FEEL COMPLETELY LET DOWN AND MISLED

On October 24, 2024, I was rear-ended on Sparks Boulevard. My vehicle was totaled, and the consequences of that accident have affected virtually every part of my life.

I lost my ability to get to work and ultimately lost my job. I also lost the small cleaning business that had provided approximately 60% of my income because my back injury now prevents me from doing the physical work required. I have a permanent bulging disc in my back that causes daily pain and significantly limits my activity. I cannot lift more than approximately 20 pounds, which has made finding work extremely difficult. My financial situation has been devastated, and even my car payment has now doubled.

I hired Mr. Golightly because I believed he and his firm would advocate for me and fight to get me fairly compensated for what I had been through. Instead, I feel that I was completely failed by the very people I trusted to protect my interests.

Most disturbing to me is that I believe Mr. Golightly lied to me about my case. I was given the impression that my case was being handled aggressively and that the firm was working toward getting me back on track. That is not how this experience turned out.

After months and months of waiting, I finally received my settlement paperwork and was shocked by what I saw. My total payout was only approximately $6,000 — after everything I had lost and everything I have continued to suffer with. What made it even more upsetting was seeing that Mr. Golightly’s fee from my case was greater than the amount I ultimately received.

I cannot understand how an attorney can take more money from a client’s case than the injured client receives and consider that a successful outcome.

What makes this even harder to accept is that, to my understanding, the driver who rear-ended me was texting while driving. Yet my case was never taken to the point of suing him. I was left waiting for months for a settlement that barely amounts to a down payment on another vehicle today.

I feel like I was treated like another paycheck rather than a person whose life had been utterly destroyed.

The advertising and promises made by personal injury firms can make you believe that someone will fight for you when you are injured and unable to fight for yourself. That was what I expected. Instead, I feel that Mr. Golightly did the bare minimum while presenting it as though he was going above and beyond.

The stereotypical image of a greedy lawyer: the attorney walked away with more money than the injured client whose life was ruined by the accident.

The car wreck didn’t just destroy my vehicle. It changed my ability to work, destroyed my small business, reduced my physical capabilities, caused ongoing pain, and created serious financial hardship. I am now facing the possibility of disability because I cannot physically do the work I used to depend on.

And after all of that, I received roughly $6,000.

I am still angry because I don’t believe Mr. Golightly had my best interests at heart. I trusted him during one of the most difficult periods of my life, and I feel completely screwed over by the outcome.

Do not hire this firm!

I hired this firm because I needed an advocate. I needed someone to fight for me when my life had been turned upside down.

I do not feel that I received that advocacy. I feel misled, financially exploited, and abandoned by the people who were supposed to be fighting for me.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Mr. Golightly or this firm to someone who is already vulnerable after a serious car accident.

Setting expectations…

Anyone else have to keep relearning the lesson of not having expectations with DoorDash?
I recently got back to Platinum and decided to drive all the way across town because I was hoping to see some better offers and maybe even catch a catering order or five. I’ve had catering and orders as much as $80 bucks in this zone.
Instead, I got an 18 mile catering order to the middle of nowhere for $15.80 and another 11 mile trip on winding roads that felt like it went straight into the wild Wild West.
By the time I called it quits, I got $17.81 an hour.
Before anyone says it, yes, I know I didn’t have to accept those orders. I was feeling a little desperate today and had some ambitions in mind. That’s on me.
I think the bigger lesson is that DoorDash is so unpredictable. One day you can make great money, and the next day you’re using all your gas on jack. It’sa game of managing expectations, staying flexible, and using your best judgment on which orders to take.
Maybe weekdays are better in my market? Maybe today was just a bad day?
It’s is hit-or-miss. You never really know who’s going to order, what, when they’re going to order it.
Anyone else have days where the reality is nowhere near what you expected when you logged in?

Platinum…

Platinum status is worth it in my favorite zone across town. Almost there.
I hear a lot of people say that platinum doesn’t matter in their area? Anybody else have a favorite zone for platinum?

Anyone Else?

Does anyone else sport the DD shirt and hat? I got mine about four years ago with my credit card and they are still in great shape! It’s one of the cards I’m filing bankruptcy on lol…

I think wearing the shirt and hat helped me have a better relationship with restaurants and stores.

What do you think?
