Queries for seniors
Hello seniors,
I have a few queries regarding IIT Bhilai. I would be grateful if you could help me with them.
Is it mandatory for an OBC-NCL candidate to submit a parental income certificate if I am not applying for any tuition fee waiver or financial assistance?
The brochure mentions that shops near the campus sell mattresses and other daily essentials. Are the prices reasonable, or are they significantly higher than the regular market? Would it be better to bring these items from home?
What is the mosquito situation in the hostels? Is it something I should be concerned about?
I have heard that education loan representatives are present on campus during admission. Are they trustworthy? How can I identify misleading offers, and what precautions should I take before accepting any loan?
Approximately what will be the total cost of completing the BTech program over four years? Based on the current fee structure, I calculated around ₹14.52 lakh if the fees remain unchanged. Under normal circumstances, is it likely to exceed ₹20 lakh?
What is the purpose of the summer semester at IIT Bhilai? I noticed that it seems less common compared to some other IITs.
IIT Bhilai is ranked 14th among 23 IITs in the Nature Index. How significant is this ranking for undergraduate students in terms of research opportunities?
If I accidentally forget to bring any of the required undertaking forms (not certificates), will blank copies be available at the registration desk, or should I ensure I print every form beforehand?
The reporting date is 23 July, and the orientation is scheduled from 23 to 27 July. Is it necessary for parents to stay for the entire orientation period, or can they leave after the registration process on 23 July? I noticed that the academic calendar also mentions registration on 27 July, which confused me.
As an OBC-NCL student, should I expect any difficulties related to my category, or is campus life generally the same for everyone?
Lastly, how is the Astronomy Club at IIT Bhilai? I am interested in joining it.
Are taxis or auto-rickshaws readily available directly outside Durg Junction for IIT Bhilai, or do I need to pre-book a cab? Approximately how much should I expect to pay?
Is it necessary to bring a bicycle and a laptop right from the beginning? I don't know how to ride a bicycle, so will that be a problem on campus? Also, is it okay if I purchase a laptop after joining, or is one required from the first day itself?
Sorry for asking so many questions. I had a drop year, so I tend to overthink things and want to be well prepared.
Thank you in advance for your time and guidance.
