Non trad can't get a job while going for msw. Am I not trying enough?

Hi all, I'm 40 and just went back to school for my MSW. I wanted to get input on people who are in the nyc metro region. Are any of you having difficulties finding opportunities? To be fair, my undergrad is an unranked suny, I don't know if the reputation and lack of prestige has to do with it, but I'm applying to everywhere in westchester, and nj regions, and long island and not hearing back from any of the hospitals. Each application is more frustrating when I upload my resume and have to retype the data like work history, just to get a rejection days later. And this is coming from working in hospitals doing materials management, jr accounting, patient tech, etc.

It's so hard! I've also been applying to NY HELPS and all related civil service positions that don't have residency requirements. If anyone has any suggestions I would be more than glad to hear.
