5 weeks in colombia for holidays - looking for some recommendations

Hola!
I am flying to Colombia this summer and went a bit overboard with my flight dates. I end up spending exactly 5 weeks in the country. So far i figured out to visit Bogota, Medellin and especially Cartagena.
As of right now i wanna do my scuba diving license in Cartagena along with some additional dives. I also heard that the Islands along the shore are quite nice, probably very touristy and overpriced (relatively spoken) but i haven‘t had time off in a long time and wanna treat myself a bit.

On the other hand i also like the less touristy places and traveling in a more slow pace. So i am looking for some recommendations of locals about culturally and ecologically interesting places around these three cities (or different ones if you would recommend them). I am a studied biologist so it can be also the more nerdy or specialized sights of nature (maybe along with scientific tours).

As a pretty obvious gringo i am also aware of that i am at a higher risk than other people (like in any other bigger latinamerican city; so far nothing happened in 4 months of combined traveling there though). I got a little bit of spanish in my repertoire but certainly nothing at B1 or even B2 level. Any special advice for this situation as well?

Super stoked to finally get to see your country and especially the nature. :)
