Struggling in the early game. Trying not to complain, but very confused.
EDIT: Holy crap did I misunderstand the research desk! I thought that was for decorations and other cosmetics, I somehow completely missed that you get gear recipes from this thing using paper. This whole time I thought you only got gear from the V-Blood Bosses. FML, thank you to everyone for explaining this.
EDIT 2: You guys have been really helpful, I dunno why google only linked me to the posts where the community was blasting someone, cus it gave me a really wrong impression of people here. Thanks so much for all the advice and helpful comments!
ORIGINAL: I am stuck in the level 20+ range, very early game. I'm stuck on copper gear and the questline and blood bosses aren't giving me new gear. It wants me to beat some level 35 necromancer for treasury floors, except the V Blood Bosses haven't given me any new gear since they gave me copper gear.
I genuinely do not know what to do at this point. I have been taught that I get my new gear by beating the V Blood Bosses, however they have not given me anything new in a while. I can't figure out how to take my servant with me, I seem to be only able to just deploy them on missions. I am getting utterly slaughtered by this necromancer however.
I seriously feel I am missing something, perhaps something the game thought was common sense? Getting advice is difficult as well, because whenever I look up posts where people have difficulty, the community is very aggressive with the skill issue comments. So please let me say that I get it, I'm hot trash at video games, and there's probably a little hostility in this post as a result of me worrying that I'll get that response too, I am sorry for that. That said, this feels absurd. I must be missing something here, I can't possibly be expected to take on these bosses a good 10-15 levels lower than their level, but no other V-Blood boss gives gear.
The AOE attacks of the bosses is insane, I don't understand how skilled people handle it in the early game. I have very few spells, and my cooldowns are very long. The guy who throws bombs was a nightmare, and I only beat him out of luck. How are we meant to handle the AOE spam in small areas that guy was doing? The only time I found I could attack him was when he got stuck on corners while running away, but he kept throwing bombs that became more bombs that became more bombs WHILE running around setting a big bomb and I spent like eight minutes running in circles just waiting for an opening because I couldnt' figure out how to stay out of that stuff in the tiny arena with a ten second cooldown on my dodge.
I tried cramming my spell bar with the dodge and counter spells and I still just can't keep up. If I take even one hit, I've lost a good third of my health at least from a normal summoned archer of all things. That's what gets me, the bosses rarely hit me, they just summon a bunch of ads, including archers, that I can't burn down fast enough because my gear level is so low. I can actually get the necromancer down to almost 1/4th his health now, I am getting slowly better at the fight, but I swear it shouldn't feel like I'm playing some old NES game where I just have three hits I can take before I die and that's it.
I tried making potions, but the heal is slow in combat and breaks if I take damage, and the magic boost potion hasn't helped much. And I don't need the sun resistance one, or the silver resistance one, and I haven't found any other v-blood boss that gives more alchemy yet.
I just don't understand what I'm missing. Is it the rat? Am I supposed to just hunt him down first? He's the only one left I have that's lower level than this necromancer, but there's no way to track him.
