Larissa Miller (now Larissa Haven), 2012 and 2026 Olympian has been back in the gym for a few years now and made her competitive return this year aged 33. She competed in the Senior International division at the NSW State Championships this weekend, winning the AA and 3 events. She had not competed AA for 15 years. She's still an excellent tumbler and bars worker, including an arabian double front plus a front layout - double front on floor and has learned new skills on bars. I'm not sure what her gymnastics ambitions are, but she has been through a lot including managing an eating disorder and publicly speaking out against childhood SA so this is pretty impressive!

Interview with Ajara Fomekong from Cameroon

Interview on YouTube here (in French)

- She's a journalist by profession working in sports radio. She became a journalist because her father used to have a newspaper stand and would also make her listen to the radio so she got interested in the media.
- She's the captain of the national team and got interested in gymnastics after seeing some girls dancing in the park. She started when she was 11. She first turned down being captain as she is a shy person and didn't know what they saw in her but she is grateful people believed in her when she didn't believe in herself.
- The recent African Championships were her 5th international competition.
- She had a break in 2025 to give birth to her son.
- She always wanted to come back to gymnastics after her maternity leave as she wanted to show you can still have your own life after motherhood and pursue your dreams.
- It wasn't easy to get back into it again but her family was by her side telling her not to give up if it is something she loves.
- She had her son with her during the African Championships and was breast feeding him during training sessions and competition.
- She was proud she didn't fall off beam at the African Championships. Before she says she always fell off 3-5 times. She knows it wasn't a high score but it was still an achievement for her.
- She is Cameroonian and Chinese and can speak some Mandarin.
