Selling software
Hello,
I have made something that has saved my large company 7 figures. I want to sell this to other companies. How does one go about this ?
Also how does one get bought out by a big corp for their software.
Thank you lol

I know some of you won’t believe this, but bear with me, I’ll share as much detail as I can.
I’m a Finance intern at a large company, but my background is in tech. Over the course of my internship, I’ve automated every task I was given, plus anything teammates brought to me. I also built an app that brings all of those automations together (keeping the specifics vague for obvious reasons).
Last week I had my final meeting with the IT/AI team, and it was eye-opening.
I walked them through the app and mentioned the limitations of hosting it on SharePoint. Their suggestions were to use Microsoft Forms or convert it to a Power App — neither of which I wanted, since building it myself gives me full control and customisation. I pushed back and kept going through the features.
Then they dropped something I wasn’t expecting. Apparently another team in our building pays €500k a year for an app that does something similar — and they told me mine has more features. The praise was genuine, and they also pointed out that the company pays for several other SaaS tools I could likely replicate based on what I’ve already built.
The colleague I’ve been working with mentioned I’d get a bonus if the app went global. But after hearing that 500k figure and learning just how much the company spends on tools like this — I’m sitting here wondering what the right move is.
What would you do in my position?
Also I know a lot of you are going to say fake, save yourself the time, I ask regularly on Reddit for advice as I love everyone’s views and advice. And yes I did use Claude to word some of this.
Thank you
