Vinland Saga changed me. [17] to [19]

I was 18 years old when I started reading Vinland Saga, I was doing an exchange in Iceland, by coincidence. But I wouldn’t imagine how much this wonderful history would reshape my character. I learned to value the little things and the moments. I became more kind, friendly and, even if it seems cliché, I was able to forgive other people more easily. I see life as a blessing and I try to make the most of every moment. Thank you, Vinland Saga, for transforming me internally.

[17], [19]. Iceland transformed me.

I've never been a person considered very beautiful, and that always messed with my self-esteem a little. For a long time, I felt insecure at various times in my life, especially in new environments or when meeting different people. I always had the feeling that my appearance limited me in some way, and this ended up influencing even the way I saw myself inside.
Living with the Icelanders has changed my worldview a lot. They are very receptive, polite and loving people, and made me realize that trust, lightness and authenticity are worth much more than appearance. For the first time in a long time, I felt that I could be myself without having to worry so much about the opinion of others.
The change wasn't just physical, although I really started to take care of myself more. The environment, the routine, the climate and even the habits I acquired there contributed to me feeling better about myself. But the main transformation happened internally. I started to see life differently, matured emotionally and learned to value more who I am.
