not lost a pound but friend on same batch lost a lot

I have been on reta nearly 3 months, haven't lost any weight but my pants (thigh) and shirts (biceps) are far more snug. I have a friend taking it from the same batch and has lost quite a bit. Any ideas on this? I didn't really want to bulk I wanted to cut.

I know my calories are at a drastic deficit, could that be it? High protein with moderate carbs which are mostly cooled overnight rice or (same) potatoes for the resistant starch. And pre-workout breakfast is 1 label serving of cream of wheat + 25g protein to get the minor spike to help IM l-carnitine to work.
