I purchased this Kanna dai through a proxy and was wondering what type of wood this is? Grain is tight and the wood is dense.

Can someone help identify the wood on this Kanna dai?

I purchased this Kanna through a proxy and was wondering what type of wood this is? It is fairly dense and has an intricate tight grain pattern. If anyone can also translate the kanji that would be greatly appreciated.
