PSA: Labour seems to have committed to median rule for their CGT. Pre-valuation day losses can be carried forward.
There was a post the other day asking about the case of people that bought in 2021-22, would have their property valued much lower in 2027, and ended up getting taxed despite actually losing money. I've seen the issue raised a few times elsewhere also.
Feedback seems to have gotten to Labour as Barbara Edmonds has an interview today and committed Labour to adopting the median rule. This means taxable gains will be relative to the higher of 2027 valuation or pre-2027 purchase price.
