Hi. Our German shorthaired pointer is 4 months old. We've had her for two months now.
I've been wondering if our sleep pattern is normal, so I thought I'd check here.
She sleeps in a crate in our living room and she will wake up anywhere from two to six times a night and cry. We assume it's because she needs to go out to pee, so we get up, take her out in silence, then return her to the crate. Once a night she does a number two that way. She has no issue falling asleep again, so we go back to bed.
The issue is that this has been going on for two months now, and we sort of expected she wouldn't need to go out to pee as much anymore. It as taken quite a toll on our sleep quality, so we'd like to hear advice on what we should be doing.
I believe it's been improving slightly, but after two consecutive nights of 4-5 wake-ups, I'm not so sure anymore. The question really: should we just ignore her? Can she hold it in? Sometimes I find her in her crate after she cried, and she's all sleepy and doesn't even have to pee at all.
