Back in the day
My father worked for the Erie Lackawanna many many years ago. At one point his job took him to inspect something at gang Mills near Corning. Occasionally he would take me along. I have a distinct memory of him showing me a caboose with the wood stove and the hole in the bathroom that went out onto the track.
My question is: why did they need a caboose and why don't we need one now?
