i was all over news for posting on reddit

During my 12th boards, I started using Reddit a LOT. After boards ended, I gave CUET, and throughout that whole phase Reddit basically became my daily app. I used to scroll through CUET and Delhi University subreddits all day.

Then the CUET results came out, and in the very first round itself, I got into Hansraj College, Delhi University. I was genuinely so happy. Like, it felt unreal. I immediately told my parents expecting them to be proud and excited… but their reaction was the complete opposite.

They straight up refused to send me to Delhi.

The reason wasn’t academics or finances — it was Delhi’s pollution. Last year the pollution levels were insanely high, AQI was terrible, and there were even reports about harmful metals being found in the water. My parents got really scared after seeing all of that and thought sending me to Delhi would affect my health badly.

I tried explaining everything to them, but nothing worked. So out of frustration, I made a Reddit post asking people how I could convince my parents. I posted it on CUETards, the Delhi subreddit, and Teen India.

And somehow… that post absolutely BLEW UP.

The next day, someone randomly DMed me a link to an NDTV article. I opened it and saw MY Reddit post being covered in the news. The headline was basically about a Chandigarh guy getting Hansraj College in the first round but not being allowed to go to Delhi because of pollution concerns.

That Chandigarh guy was me 😭

After that, things got crazier. My story started spreading everywhere. Different news pages picked it up, people were discussing it online, and even Radio Mirchi reached out and offered to help me convince my parents.

For a few days, I was literally all over the internet because of one Reddit post.

And the funniest part is — even today, if you search “Hansraj College Reddit guy,” you’ll still find articles and posts about it.

So yeah… that’s basically how I accidentally got famous on Reddit.

If anyone from SD can help me!

I had a query regarding the major-minor subject selection. If I choose Psychology as my minor subject and later decide to pursue a career in Psychology, will I still be eligible to do a Master’s degree in it?
