Boss says employees will receive write ups for things out of our control
So at my job they recently started doing some charity partnership and we have to sell these things for the charity that cost a dollar to up to $5 but the thing is we have to ask a customer if they want to donate money and then we scan the said item and then we hang it up on the wall with their name on it. So it's completely out of our control whether the customer buys it or not.
And then the other one is we have this app where you can scan it and get points. But the thing is they don't care about people that are already signed up with the app they want new people and every time I ask people if they want to sign up for the app or donate for the charity they say no. Because times are tough right now. And recently this past week we were only able to get two Charity donations for a total of like $3 and only had one app sign up. And now my boss is saying that if we don't get more donations and more sign ups that people start getting write-ups which means people will get fired. I'm just wondering like what am I supposed to do about this? Because it's something that I can't control as an employee. I can only ask the question and that's it. Once I ask the question it's completely out of my hands and now in the hands of the customer. And most customers that come into our store are only in here for a couple minutes because it's convenience store they're not going to be in here for hours shopping. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do about this?
Also just kind of feels ironic that we are supposed to be helping a charity raise money but we're threatened if we don't get donations that will get fired over it. Just seems a bit ironic to me considering charity is meant to help people not consequence them for not raising enough money.
Also the job is a convenience store with 6 employees.
