How Do I Claim Guyanese Citizenship/Passport Through My Parents?

I was born in the United States, and I am currently a U.S. citizen. Both of my parents are Guyanese citizens, and I am interested in obtaining Guyanese citizenship and, eventually, a Guyanese passport through them.

From what I understand, someone born outside Guyana may be eligible for Guyanese citizenship if at least one parent was born in Guyana or is a Guyanese citizen. My question is about the documentation requirement.

My father has Guyanese documents, but some of his certificates have errors or inconsistencies. My mother’s Guyanese documents are accurate and in good condition.

Do I need to provide documentation from both parents, or would my mother’s Guyanese birth certificate/passport/citizenship documents be enough to apply through her side?

Also, if anyone has gone through this process from the U.S., especially through the Guyanese consulate (United Nations), I’d appreciate knowing what documents were required and how long the process took.
