Finally completed the mini that convinced me to learn how to paint minis
I've finished around 50 minis, all Raven Guard and I finally felt like I had the skills to do this model justice and make him look how I wanted
This guy will forever be the coolest Space Marine model that exists
After the Van Vet reveal yesterday that the multi part kit will have shields I decide to go ahead and kitbash my pushfit Van Vets
Hopefully I don't end up regretting this decision when the datasheet comes out but I'm expecting the shields to be an option instead of pistols so likely will be a straight upgrade or a sidegrade for more durability
I'm aware the sergeant can have a Thunder Hammer but I'm planning on doing x2 10 man squads so I'm gonna wait for the data sheet before doing my squad with the Sergeant just incase there are other options like a power fist instead of a thunder hammer
Let me know what you think, personally I really like how these guys look with shields as they seem much more like a Veteran/Elite unit and they stand out as more unique next to my JPI's
If anyone is curious I took the shields from an assault terminators box and some spare arms from a JPI box and an extra sword from the Sternguard box
Just finished up a 5 man squad of Sternguard Veterans! My initial plan was to do a 10 man squad with librarian but with the Fusilade Combo dead I'm not sure if I'll end up using these guys
Despite that really happy with these guys came out and the Sternguard box looks really nice, I also figured out some better lighting that is getting my pictures closer to how they look irl which is nice
I'd love to hear feedback on Raven Guard Veteran paint schemes as I'm not completely set on what I want to do, right now I like the white shoulder/black trim/white helmet I did on most of these guys but I think next up I might try going with black helmets/white shoulders/white arms as I think I prefer the black helmet look for Raven Guard outside of Captains/Shaan
I'm planning on doing 20 of the new Vanguard Veterans when their multi part comes out so I'll have lots of minis to try new stuff with
Also I think the Victrix helmet is perfect for Raven Guard Veterans and I wouldn't even call it a Victrix helmet as Shadow Captain Solaq was shown with this similar style of helmet a long time ago so to me it's a Raven Guard helmet first!
Most recent squad finished! I used to really not like Inceptors and thought they were ugly but I made some modifications and these ended up being my favourite looking unit so far!
I suck at taking pictures and in person I like these a lot more though from now on I'm going to stop using varnish as I don't like how it's changing the look of the armour
Getting close to 1k points Raven Guard and hopefully the multipart Vanguard Vets come out soon as I'm planning to do 20 of those! (please GW give us lightning claws)
1st squad of Incursors finished!
Continuing my attempts to learn NMM Black armour I figured 10 incursors would be great practice and I really love how these Phobos models look and honestly the Phobos pattern might be my favourite armour design now!
Any feedback or tips for improving is greatly appreciated! Black NMM has been pretty tough to learn but I think slowly I'm improving
I know these look pretty blue but I swear in person they look way less blue, I'm not sure why but on camera they show up way more blue. I have no idea how to take good pictures, use lighting, or edit photos so I think that's part of the problem as well so if anyone has tips on that it would be greatly appreciated!
Hello! Big fan of the sub and how helpful it has been for learning about painting minis
I paint a lot of black armour so I've been trying to learn Black NMM which seems like one of the hardest NMM's to do from what I can tell
Here are my most recent attempts, I swear in person they look way less blue but for whatever reason on camera it seems to pick up the blue a lot more (I have no idea how to take pictures/use my iphone camera)
Looking for feedback and tips from people who've been able to learn Black NMM!
Recipes are also welcome, right now mine is Abaddon Black, Black/Stegadon Scale Green, Stegadon Scale Green, Stegadon/Wraithbone, then edge highlight with last mix and then Celestra Grey for brightest edges
Newest squad finished! Continuing my attempts to learn NMM black armour and things are slowly improving but still lots to work on!
I wasn't too excited to do my Intercessor squad but got a hold of some cool hooded helmets that made these guys look really cool and since they're 3rd Company and also because I love the Deathwatch hooded look from the start of Space Marine 2, the red hoods really fit and made they guys look special and not just like generic intercessors
(I know one guy doesn't have a red hood but he was my test model and I liked how it looked and didn't want to paint over it, also as I'm learning I'm trying to not go back and fix things as I improve so I can track progress/learn from my mistakes)
If anyone has tips for NMM or videos/resources that helped them please share!
As Raven Guard players we're painting a lot of black so I figured I've gotta learn ways to make it look more interesting so here's my first attempt at painting volumes/light on black armour
