WARNING: Suspicious apartment rental in Münster – “Roomless” / €300 apartment

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking for a small apartment or room in Münster because I’m moving there for work. I’m still living in England at the moment and ideally need somewhere from mid-October.

I’ve honestly been struggling to find a place, so when I received this offer I was initially very interested.

Someone using the initials D.M. offered me a furnished apartment in central Münster for €300/month including all bills, with a €500 deposit.

What made me suspicious was that they offered large discounts if I paid several months in advance and wanted payment before I had even viewed the apartment. They said everything would be handled through Roomless and asked for my full name, address, phone number and email.

I also found older scam warnings online with extremely similar wording, prices and payment options.

I cannot prove that this particular listing is fraudulent, so I’m not making a definite accusation. However, there were enough red flags for me to decide not to proceed or send any money or personal documents.

I’m sharing this mainly to warn other people who are also struggling to find accommodation in Münster.

Also, if anyone knows of a small apartment, studio or room available from around mid-October, I would be very grateful for any leads. 🙏

Looking for a one/two-bedroom flat in or around Münster from November

Hi everyone,

I’ll be starting at the University of Münster in November and am looking for a one/two-bedroom flat in Münster or the surrounding area. Other towns would also be suitable, as long as Münster is easily accessible by train.

I’ve already searched on ImmoScout24, Immowelt, Kleinanzeigen, nadann, and the Flats for Friends app, but unfortunately haven’t found anything suitable yet.

As I’m currently living abroad, I’m unable to search for private listings or check local noticeboards in person. Does anyone know someone who might be renting out a flat, or have any helpful suggestions?

Please keep the comments serious and constructive, so that neither your time nor mine is wasted.

Thank you!
