Braces

Hey all, roughly a week ago I dislocated my knee in a tackle and it’s not looking good, however I still wanna practice and do partial drills in the next few weeks if my knee allows it. My main concern is it popping out again or possible further ligament damage/irritation if I cut, jump, sprint whatever. I understand physio and patience is going to be the best for me In the long run however I’d like to take extra precautions. Has anyone got any recommendations? Ive looked at a few different ones (anaconda, bauerfeind, mc David) etc. but have seen mixed reviews about each. If Anyone’s got a similar experience or any recommendations other than just taping the knee Thatd be amazing.

Thanks heaps :)

Dislocation

Hey all, ive just suffered my first major sports injury, this past weekend I was playing rugby which resulted in my knee dislocating (have no clue how it happened im assuming stood on or an awkward tackle) however i managed to pop it back fairly quickly. That same evening I ended up going into emergency for an X-RAY, the Doctor said I had a possible Bone or cartilage fragment missing he wasn’t very clear about it. I have a follow up appointment next week with an orthopaedic and hopefully an MRI.

However I have 2 main concerns:

1.

Since it’s my first dislocation what should I be doing? Ive relied on crutches heavily when getting around, ive been icing as much as possible (15-20 minutes as much as possible) elevating when I sleep/laying down.

And 1-2 sets of heel slides during the day which I door lnow if it’s gonna cause more swelling or irritation because it’s so early in the injury.

Im currently using a compression sleeve instead of a brace or an immobiliser, should I be wearing an immobiliser? If so when and for how long?

2.

Im supposed to set off for America in July for football

Camps but im worried its going to be a waste of time since im unable to get game footage/highlights because of my injury and my coach sitting me out the last 3 games which im pretty pissed about.

If it’s nothing to major how long can I expect to be out for?

When can I return to normal training/games?

Any advice to reduce swelling?

Thank you all, any advice/tips is greatly helpful. My doctor wasn’t exactly clear on what I should be doing and I didnr ask any questions as I was very emotional and pissed off about the whole thing since it was my first game.
