Queries Related to the Efficacy of Proton Docs Vs. Microsoft Word

Hello all,

I have decided as of yesterday to start digging into using Proton for my pieces (using it for storage, changing over my email and then spending a while picking through and changing all my accounts from gmail.com to proton.de and so on. It's all been incredibly welcoming and surprisingly helpful as my intention with a computer is never super comples, I just want to have the tech do the job I want without frills or autocomplete or anything. Now that I have set up my Proton Calendar (this one seems to be from scratch but I could be misunderstanding how to import either an Apple or Outlook calendar). The only exception is I have gone from Google to DuckDuckGo to Ecosia for my browser and I will likely be sticking to it. I was just wondering a few things about Proton docs before I go ahead and actually sink money into this:

  1. Is there a possibility of just buying Proton Docs without any of the side pieces which is also tacked on: I understand it is at a pretty great rate, but I am trying to be as straightforward with this as possible. I want something I can use to run a Word equivalent and everything else is a bonus.

  2. How similar is it in practice to Word or is it closer to Google Docs: While Google Docs is useful in a situation where I need to quickly whip something up I often find that elements of it fall short in regard to what my actual needs are. I enjoy customising and automating elements of documents with the likes of cross references and so on, which Google Docs is frankly just worse at.

  3. Is there a way to run Proton Docs offline: I want to be really straightforward: I want to just run Word on my laptop without needing to understand the inner machinations of Proton to do so. If I can run it offline or have it saved to an actual offline file on my laptop's hard drive like you can have with Word then that is exactly what I need.

If Proton Docs isn't what I am looking for it's a disappointment but no great loss. Regardless, super happy I have been able to start extricating my stuff from Microsoft and Google.

Thank you if you are able to help me out here.

Hello all. In my further journeys in bending and breaking Word documents to my whims, I have stumbled into an issue: I decided I wanted to change headings and citations to their native language and respectively their native alphabetical systems (Kanji, Cyrillic or whatever else have you) and I hit into an issue as can be seen in these screenshots whereby the header text reverts to MS Gothic, which can be an issue that I want to address. My plan if this doesn’t have a hard fix I’ll simply section it off if and when I print it off in separate lots, but avoiding this would be a huge boon and leagues more convenient.
