My own personal Slow Travel Manifesto - Six thoughts for those who'd rather arrive than rush

I love a slow, mindful way of travel. Actually, thinking about it - that goes for my general living. At least I try.

I want to share some thoughts with you on slow travel.

What would be written in your manifesto?

  1. Arriving isn't a matter of speed.

Give yourself time to land and to realise that you're truly here. Everything else can wait.

  1. A place only tells its story when you listen.

It's not a holiday destination, but a world that was here long before you. Step in softly.

  1. Travelling isn't about seeing a lot. It's about overlooking very little.

Every small discovery, however modest, makes your life a little richer.

  1. The cabin itself is a destination, too.

No FOMO, but no FODN either: the fear of doing nothing. Simply being where you are can be wonderfully healing.

  1. The best signposts are people, not signs.

Don't be a tourist. Be a visitor, a guest, a traveller. More often than not, people will treat you accordingly.

  1. In the end, it's not where you've been. It's who you were there.

Every journey, every place, every encounter can change you. Stay mindful, and you'll feel it happening.
