Rant: iPhone Focus feels like it punishes quiet time instead of protecting it
I know Focus has been around for a while, but it still bugs me when I'm just trying to have some quiet, low-key time.
After work I usually find a calm corner or sit in my car for a bit, put on headphones, and do a puzzle book or listen to music. For an hour I want my iPhone to be a boring rectangle. No banner previews, no "x is calling twice" loopholes, no notifications that slip through because they are somehow "time sensitive," and absolutely no apps trying to be helpful.
Instead I spend time babysitting Focus. I set up a custom Focus, pick allowed people and apps, turn off time sensitive, dim the lock screen, and still something sneaks through. Usually it is an app I forgot about, or an app reclassifies a notification, or the phone decides to surface a suggestion while I'm halfway through a puzzle.
The worst part is how unreliable it feels. One night it works perfectly, the next it seems like the rules changed for no reason.
Not looking for troubleshooting, just venting: does anyone else think Focus is overcomplicated for what most people want, which is basically a true Do Not Disturb? What do you do: one super strict Focus, a bunch of custom ones, or just plain DND forever?
