Job I interviewed for is reposted.

This probably isn't a new subject but if anyone could offer advice that would be great.

Interviewed for a job, sent an email that day as requested by interviewer with salary I would need. I came in $3k/yr above their budget. They did tell me they could probably go higher than budget.

I've heard nothing since, but did see the job reposted. Years ago this happened to me and I reached out thanking them for the opportunity to interview. They ended up calling me back and I got the job. But things are much different today.

Would it be poor etiquette to email them back?
